Premium burs cost more than standard ones, but they last three to five times longer, so the cost per preparation ends up lower. That is exactly what the Premium designation stands for, and what justifies the difference in price.

The RETARD Original torpedo is where the durability claim is easiest to verify. Thanks to the patented two-tier diamond coating it holds its cutting profile long after a conventional bur would have rounded off, and a bur that has lost its profile no longer cuts the margin you designed.

The burs work on the shark-tooth principle: as the upper layer of diamond grains wears away, fresh grains from the layers beneath are automatically exposed. Cutting efficiency therefore stays constant instead of declining over the life of the instrument.
