EVE Ernst Vetter was founded in 1925 in Keltern near Pforzheim. A century later it still does the same thing, rotary grinding and polishing instruments, only for more industries than at the start.
Pforzheim has been a goldsmiths' town for centuries, and EVE grew out of that tradition. Jewellery is still one of the company's fields, alongside dentistry, cosmetics, precision mechanics, and tool and mould making. What all of them share is the same problem: how to bring a hard surface to a specified gloss without overheating it and without losing its shape.
EVE polishers are built on two principles. The silicone bond provides elasticity, the instrument adapts to the curvature of the restoration instead of flattening it, so a convex surface does not end up flat. Diamond impregnation provides the abrasive capacity needed for zirconia and lithium disilicate, materials on which an ordinary silicone polisher merely glides. The TWIST versions use a lamellar head that reaches into occlusal fissures where a rigid wheel cannot.
Most EVE lines are arranged as a system: coarse for shaping, medium for smoothing, fine for high shine. DIACOMP ULTRA and similar one-step approaches do all of it with a single instrument, the saving is not in seconds of polishing but in the instrument changes that no longer happen.
