Premium burs cost more than standard ones, but they last three to five times longer, so the cost per preparation ends up lower. That is exactly what the Premium designation stands for, and what justifies the difference in price.

The Marxkors variant of the inverted cone is the reference instrument for cutting retention form in classical restorations. Its undercut shape mechanically locks the filling in place, which matters most in teeth with substantial loss of tooth structure.
