Model 234 is an elongated pear-shaped diamond. The shape has become a standard in modern restorative dentistry because it resolves a genuine conflict: you need enough cutting power to open a cavity efficiently, and enough rounding to avoid sharp internal line angles that would concentrate stress in the composite.

The burs work on the shark-tooth principle: as the upper layer of diamond grains wears away, fresh grains from the layers beneath are automatically exposed. Cutting efficiency therefore stays constant instead of declining over the life of the instrument.
